Select from the list of Car Parks
Overnight and evening parking is available at many of our sites. Please see the individual car park pages for further details.
Chelmsford is proud to have obtained ParkMark Safer Parking awards for all of its key city centre sites. These awards are granted for security, lighting, cleanliness and management of the operation.
Our major car parks have Variable Message Signage on the approach roads, to indicate how many spaces are available. You can also get real-time information about car park availability via the button link on the right.
15 of our car parks offer a Pay & Display system and are open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Credit card payment is available in most of these car parks for customers wishing to stay for four hours or longer. Payment is made on arrival at the car park and a valid ticket must be clearly displayed in your windscreen at these car parks. All of our Pay & Display machines are solar powered.
Four of our car parks provide a Pay On Foot facility which enables customers to spend longer in the city if required. Payment is made before leaving these sites.
Residents' parking permit and ticket applications
You can apply for a permit or tickets under the Residents' Parking Permit Scheme (or change the vehicle details of an existing permit) by clicking on the purple button to the right of this page marked "Apply for permit or tickets here".
Payment can be made online by credit or debit card (except American Express).
Please note that currently, online applications can only be made for properties in Chelmsford and Rochford.
Other private Meadows car parks
Please note that there are four different car parks called "Meadows". Two of these are run by the Council (Meadows Retail Short Stay Multi-Storey car park and Meadows Surface Short Stay car park), but two are privately run.
The private car park for the Meadows shopping centre (next to the centre and opposite the Odeon cinema, in Baddow Road) is run by a company called Q-Park. The private Meadows Surface car park (in Springfield Road/High Bridge Road) is run by Euro Car Parks. Please see External Links for more information on these private car parks.
Please note that the list opposite does not include privately-owned car parks.
