CSAC exercise classes
At Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre we have a wide range of group exercise classes on offer every week, each with their own benefits.
We have modern ground floor studios, accessible changing facilities and expert instructors.
Equipped with high-quality speakers, air-conditioning, lighting and professional sports flooring you’ll enjoy the perfect environment for all types of workout.
We run over 70 classes per week including a mix of, cardio, dance, strength, group cycle HIIT, core and mind and body classes.
The minimum age for classes is 14 year old, but classes marked with a * are for over 16s only.

Our exercise classes are very popular, we advise booking in advance.
You can:

- visit CSAC to book your place
You can book onto classes:
- ten days in advance if you have a monthly membership
- seven days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Plus card
- two days in advance if you have an ourChelmsford Lite card

- You will need to book a session in advance to guarantee your space.
- If you do not check-in, we will charge you the full amount for the session.
- Please make sure that you have registered your email address with us in order to book online.
- If you can't attend a class that you have booked onto, you must cancel at least two hours before it starts.
- You can cancel online or via the app, by calling 01245 605666 or in person.
- We will charge you the full amount for the class if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend.
- You will not be allowed to enter the class after the scheduled start time, to ensure the class isn’t disrupted and you don’t miss any of the essential warm up.
- Do not bring coats, bags and other unessential belongings into the studios. Instead, you can store them in the lockers provided.
- Please leave the studios promptly to allow the next class to start on time. You can make your way to our seating area if you wish to stay after your class.
Our fast-track entry
We have a fast-track entry pod to make checking in for your gym sessions and classes quicker and easier.
Simply tap your phone on the top of the check-in pod when you arrive and you'll automatically be checked in without having to go to reception.
You must have the free Chelmsford City Sports app to use the pod. Membership cards and wrist fobs will not work on the check in pod.
The pods look like this:
On top of the pod there will be a check-in tile that says "tap or scan for access".
- Open the Chelmsford City Sports app on your phone. You must be logged into the app to use the pod.
- On the app homepage, there will be a button that says "Check in."
- Click the check in button. Your phone camera will open. You can scan the QR code or tap your phone on the tile to check in.
- When you are correctly checked in, the pod will turn green. If the pod turns red, please go to reception.
- If you want to use a locker, you will need a £1 token from reception to release the key. You will get the £1 back when you return the token. Some lockers need a padlock, which you can buy from reception.
- There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area.
- Accessible changing is available.
