Recycling Information

Residents of Chelmsford have increased their recycling rate to approximately 33.5 per cent in 2007 - higher than the average 27 per cent in England. This has been achieved through the use of the kerbside collection scheme, recycling banks in flats and recycling banks for a wider range of materials across the Borough. Chelmsford Borough Council provides a green box with a lid for multi-material collections. Collections take place on a fortnightly basis and although most of the Borough is covered by the service, some areas and flats are not on currently on the scheme

Chelmsford Borough Council provides a sack for the collection of paper. Collections are made fortnightly.

Chelmsford Borough Council has now made recycling even easier by increasing the number of places people can collect additional plastic bottle bags for recycling.
