Gym at Dovedale
Our expert gym instructors are on hand to support you as you achieve your health and fitness goals, from losing those first kilos to training for a marathon.
Large, light and spacious, our state-of-the-art gym is a fantastic training facility for members and athletes alike and includes everything you need, all on one floor, such as:
- strength and performance equipment
- a dedicated free-weight training area with lifting platforms
- a functional fitness area
- a wide range of Technogym cardio equipment
Before you use our gym, you will need to have an induction, so we can help you safely achieve your fitness goals.
Our gym is open to those aged 16 years and over.
Opening hours
- Weekdays: 6.30am to 12pm
- Weeknights: 5pm to 10pm
- Weekends: 7am to 7pm

- Weekdays: 6.30am to 9am
- Weeknights: 5pm to 10pm
- Weekends: 7am to 12pm

- Weekdays: 9am to 12pm

Before you use our gym, you need to have an induction with one of our gym instructors.
During the induction, you will discuss your goals, learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively, and get a personalised exercise programme.
Our instructors are on hand every time you come to use the gym, to answer any questions, or update your programme.
You can book a gym induction by calling 01245 605685 or at reception.
Price
If you are a monthly member, you can book a welcome induction for £14, or you can book a quick induction for free.
If you are a pay as you go customer, you can book a welcome induction for £28 or a quick induction for £14.
Booking
Once you have had your induction, you do not need to book to attend the gym.
Entering the gym
If you are a member, you can scan your QR code or check in via the app to access the gym. If you are unable to access the app, you can check in at reception.
If you need to pay for your gym session, you will need to go to reception.
At Dovedale, you do not need to use a Technogym key. If you want to use the gym at Riverside or CSAC, you will be required to buy a key which allows you to use the equipment with your programme. This costs £13.50
Changing rooms
- There is a unisex changing area on the first floor.
- There is a male group changing area and a female group changing area, but these are not open all the time. They are for college use only from 8am to 5pm Monday to Friday during term time.
- Accessible changing is available.
Lockers
If you want to use a locker for the first time, you will need to speak to reception, so they can activate your Our Chelmsford card. Lockers are in the changing rooms.
