About the scheme
The annual fee for garden waste collections is £62 for the first bin, £32 for a second bin, and £62 for any additional bins after that, up to a maximum of six bins.
If you need more than one bin, we can provide extra wheelie bins as part of your subscription cost. You will need to request this by contacting us online or calling us on 01245 615800.
If you receive Council Tax benefit, you can have one bin for the discounted fee of £46.50. If you want a second bin, that will cost £32. If you want more than two bins, you will need to pay the normal fee of £62 per additional bin.
We will check you are eligible as part of your online application. This reduced rate does not apply if you receive single person discount.
Your subscription will run for a fixed period, from 1 March to 28 February the following year. You must pay the full annual fee, even if your subscription starts part-way through the year.
It is an optional service, open to anyone who received a garden waste collection previously.
If you did not already receive a garden waste collection service before the changes, you can't subscribe to the paid-for service.
Our garden waste service will run throughout the year. We aim for 26 collections per year, but guarantee a minimum of 20, to allow for adverse weather or other events out of our control.
You can have a maximum of six brown wheeled bins, which we will provide. All bins must have a capacity of 240 litres and may be new or refurbished.
You must make sure the lid is closed, and we will not take any side garden waste that is not in the bin.
Your subscription will run for a fixed period, from 1 March to 28 February the following year, regardless of when you start your subscription.
Even if you do not sign up to the service, you are welcome to keep your bin and use it for composting or storage.
If you decide you do not want it, you can contact us on 01245 615800 to ask us to take it away.
We will not collect garden waste for anyone who does not have a subscription.
You can buy a subsidised compost bin from Essex County Council. However, you don't have to buy a compost bin. Instead, you can make your own from scrap wood or other materials.
You can also take garden waste to any of Essex County Council’s recycling centres.
