View your Council Tax account online

Before you can sign in to your account, you need to:

  • register for an account
  • request a PIN
  • register a profile


Register for an account


To register for an account, you will need:

  • your email address

  • to set up a security question

Once you have set up your account, you can take a tour. You will need to request a PIN before you can view your account.



Request a PIN

To view your Council Tax account online, you need to request a PIN.

To request a PIN, you will need:

Once we receive your request, we will send you a letter containing your PIN within five working days, if you have a current Council Tax account. 

If you are moving into the area or have moved with Chelmsford, we will send your PIN after we have processed your move.

We need to send the PIN by post to the property, for security reasons.

You can register a profile now, but you will need the PIN to link it to your Council Tax account.



Register a profile

Once you have registered and have your PIN, you will need to link your Council Tax account to your profile. To link your account to your profile, you will need:


 Sign in

You can sign in to view:

  • your Council Tax charge

  • how we calculated your charge

  • payments you have already made

  • any outstanding payments

  • your payment schedule

  • any discounts or exemptions we have applied to your account

  • the band your property is in

  • register for e-billing

  • set up a Direct Debit to pay your Council Tax

  • report a change of address
