Gambling premises licence
You must have a premises licence for any premises where an individual or company wants to offer premises-based gambling.
Types of gambling premises licences
The types of licence are:
- casino premises licence
- bingo premises licence
- adult gaming centre premises licence
- family entertainment centre premises licence
- betting premises licence
You can only use a premises licence for one type of activity per premises. We may not issue a premises licence if a premises already has a licence for a different activity.
Apply for a gambling premises licence
Before you apply for a gambling premises licence, you must:
- have the right to occupy the premises
- be over 18 years old
- have the correct operating licence or have already applied for an operating licence with the gambling commission
To apply for a gambling premises licence, you must:
- download and complete an application form
- send us your completed application form
- pay the correct fee
Provisional statements
You can apply for a provisional statement for a premises that you:
- expect to be constructed
- expect to be altered
- expect to occupy
You can apply for a provisional statement without having an operating licence from the Gambling Commission or a right to occupy the premises.
If we grant a provisional statement, it can provide:
- a level of assurance to the outcome of your premises licence application
- a level of protection against representations when you apply for a premises licence
Compulsory advertisement
You must publicly advertise your application if you apply for a:
- grant
- variation
- non fast-track conversion of a premises licence
- provisional statement
