Chelmsford Business Improvement District (BID)

In early 2018, businesses and organisations with a rateable value of £15,000 and over voted in favour of setting up a Business Improvement District.

This resulted in the incorporation of Chelmsford Business Improvement District Ltd, which trades as One Chelmsford.

One Chelmsford is funded via a levy on businesses and organisations who:

• are within the BID area
• have a rateable value of £15,000 and over

We collect the levy on behalf of Chelmsford Business Improvement District Ltd (trading as One Chelmsford) and One Chelmsford choses how to spend that money.

All liable businesses in the district pay:

• 1.4% of their rateable value, if they already paying a late-night levy
• 1.4% of the rateable value, if they are within the serviced areas of the city centre (High Chelmer, The Meadows or Bond Street)
• 1.5% of their rateable value, if neither of the above apply

Businesses that receive charitable relief for their Business Rates will receive 80% relief from the BID levy.
