Polling District Reviews
We completed an interim polling district review in January 2025, which the Governance Committee agreed at their meeting on 15 January 2025.
The last full review was completed in late 2023 and the Governance Committee agreed the outcome at their meeting on 17 January 2024.
The next review is scheduled for the period October 2028 to January 2030.
Rectory Lane and Springfield Chelmer Polling District Review
We are carrying out a targeted review of polling districts and polling places limited to the Bishop Hall Lane area, following recent boundary changes by the Local Government Boundary Commission for England.
You can view the proposed changes and find out how to submit your views by downloading the Rectory Lane and Springfield Chelmer Polling District Review notice.
The deadline to submit your comments is Monday 16 November 2026. Our Governance Committee will consider any comments at their meeting on 18 November 2026.
We will reflect any changes they agree in the register of electors on 1 December 2026.
Requirements of the review
We are responsible for ensuring that polling places are accessible and practical for everyone in the area. Our priority is to ensure that we provide a good voting experience.
Legislation sets out the key requirements, which are that:
each parish is to be a separate polling district, unless special circumstances apply
the council must designate a polling place for each polling district
the polling place must be within the polling district, unless special circumstances apply (for example, if no accessible polling place can be identified in the district)
