Removing a property from the Council Tax list
If a property is present in the Council Tax list of domestic properties, we are legally obliged to charge the liable person(s) Council Tax. We do not make the decision on whether a property should be in the Council Tax list or what Council Tax band the property should be in. The Valuation Office Agency is responsible for these decisions.
There are certain situations where the Valuation Office Agency can remove a property from the Council Tax list. They can remove a property permanently or temporarily. The Valuation Office Agency have published guidance on these situations and how to request the removal of a property.
