Assets of community value and community right to bid

The Localism Act 2011 allows groups to nominate land and buildings that are important in their community to be an asset of community value. This includes community and voluntary groups, as well as parish and town councils.

  • Nominating an asset of community valueYou can nominate an asset of community value if you are an eligible community or voluntary group, and if the asset is eligible.
  • Community right to bidIf we have listed an asset, you can find out how to put in a bid for it and what happens next.
  • Information for ownersIf you own an asset that has been listed, you can find out how to appeal or what compensation you may be entitled to.
