Right in the heart of Chelmsford city centre is the Civic Centre, home to Chelmsford City Council. Here you will find a suite of corporate meeting rooms that are available for hire, each with their refurbished art deco features carefully maintained to a high standard.

With a mix of meeting rooms, a separate reception area, as well as the impressive Council Chamber, the Civic Centres provides a flexible range of city centre room options. 

We can accommodate from 10 to 200 people, making us the ideal choice for your business meeting, conference or event.

Centrally located, the Civic Centre has great transport links. It sits next to the Chelmsford railway station and bus station, and has several long and short stay car parks nearby.

All rooms are located on the first floor and are accessible via a lift and ramp.

The Council Chamber is a purpose-built meeting and conference space that can hold up to 200 people.

It’s big enough to accommodate 36 people seated boardroom-style downstairs, with an additional tiered auditorium for over 120 people. Containing high specification AV equipment, it is both a unique and modern prestigious venue.

The Marconi Room is a bright and flexible space that can hold up to 60 people. It's equipped with high specification AV equipment, perfect for in-person and hybrid meetings. 

The room was named after Guglielmo Marconi, who set up the world’s first radio factory in Hall Street, Chelmsford in December 1898. His company has had a huge impact on Chelmsford as an industrial employer and has connected the city to some of technology's greatest achievements.

The Crompton Room is a versatile space that can accommodate up to 60 people. It is perfect for meetings and presentations.

It's named in honour of Colonel Rookes Evelyn Bell Crompton, a leading authority in electrical engineering and true Chelmsford pioneer. Crompton illuminated the town centre with electric street lights in 1888 to celebrate the incorporation of the Borough of Chelmsford.
