The Freedom of Information Act (FOI) or Environment Information Regulations (EIR) mean you have right of access to information we hold. We aim to answer all valid requests promptly and professionally.

However, if you are dissatisfied with our response, or how we handled your request, you can ask for a review. Our Director of Connected Chelmsford will then independently review your request.

How to request an internal review

To request an internal review, you need to:

  • contact us within 40 working days of receiving our response, to let us know you would like an internal review
  • explain in writing why you are dissatisfied with our response, or how we handled your request, including any supporting evidence that would help us in the review
  • send your request to IR@chelmsford.gov.uk or write to: Information Governance Team, Civic Centre, Duke Street, Chelmsford, CM1 1JE

Timescales

There is no statutory deadline for carrying out internal reviews. However, the ICO states that internal reviews should take no longer than 20 working days.

If we can’t reach a decision in that time, we will let you know. We will also give you the anticipated timescale for our response.
