You need planning permission for an external wall-mounted electrical vehicle charging point if it:

  • exceeds 0.2 cubic metres
  • is within a site designated as a Scheduled Monument
  • is within the curtilage of a listed building

You need planning permission for an upstand with an electric vehicle charging point if it:

  • exceeds 1.6m in height within the curtilage of a dwelling house or block of flats
  • is within a site designed as a Scheduled Monument
  • is within the curtilage of a Listed Building
  • results in more than one upstand per parking space
