We have appointed artists to develop artwork to transform the air space above Cornhill leading to Market Square, in Chelmsford city centre. You can find out how to contribute your ideas.

Current public art commissions

We are very pleased to announce we have commissioned artists to work on two public art projects in the city centre.

One site is Cornhill, where there is a public artist and an engagement artist. The site will feature artwork to transform the air space above Cornhill, helping mark the gateway to Market Square and the indoor market.

The other site is the Meadows Retail car park, with a design intended for the west stairtower to help put Springfield Basin and the navigation onto the map.
