Current public art commissions

We are very pleased to announce a public art project in the city centre with three artist opportunities.

We are looking for artwork to transform Cornhill, the gateway to Market Square and the indoor market. We are also looking for a new piece for the Meadows Retail Car Park, to help put Springfield basin and the navigation onto the map.

Both locations will have a different approach. For Cornhill, we are looking for an artist and a public engagement artist. For the Meadows stair tower, we are looking for an artist who will initiate engagement and develop a design concept.

Commission for public art at Cornhill, Market Square We are looking for an artist or artists, working in the public realm, to develop concepts and designs for artwork to transform the air space above Cornhill leading to Market Square, in Chelmsford city centre.

Commission for public engagement artist We are looking for an artist to lead a public engagement programme, which will inspire the development of a new permanent public artwork for Cornhill in Chelmsford city centre.

Commission for public art at Meadows Retail car park We are looking for an artist working in the public realm to develop concepts and designs for artwork as part of the existing Meadows Retail Car Park Tower.
