Current public art commissions

There is a live public art project in the city centre with three artist opportunities.

One site is Cornhill, where there will be an artist and a public engagement artist. The intention is for artwork to transform the air space above, helping make the gateway to Market Square and the indoor market.

The other site is the Meadows Retail car park, with a design intended for the west stairtower to help put Springfield Basin and the navigation onto the map.

Commission for public art at Cornhill, Market Square We are looking for an artist or artists, working in the public realm, to develop concepts and designs for artwork to transform the air space above Cornhill leading to Market Square, in Chelmsford city centre.

Commission for public engagement artist We are looking for an artist to lead a public engagement programme, which will inspire the development of a new permanent public artwork for Cornhill in Chelmsford city centre.

Commission for public art at Meadows Retail car park We are looking for an artist working in the public realm to develop concepts and designs for artwork as part of the existing Meadows Retail Car Park Tower.
