Royal Mail delays

Our addressing team work closely with Royal Mail, who are currently experiencing delays due to a recent system update. They are currently taking up to five weeks to add addresses on to Postcode Address File (PAF) instead of the usual four working days. This is also having a knock-on effect on how quickly they respond to our requests, and is not something we can control. We apologise for any inconvenience.

We have a responsibility to name streets, number properties and manage property address changes. We carry out this statutory function under Sections 17, 18 and 19 of the Public Health Act of 1925. You can contact our Environmental Team if you want to report a damaged street nameplate.

Check your address or report an address issue You can check your address against our database, and report a problem with your address, such as an incorrect listing.

Request new street names and new property names or numbers You can apply for addresses for new properties, conversion of a building (commercial or domestic), new developments, or any property that doesn't already have an official address.

Add or change your property name You can change the name of a property that doesn't have a number, or add an alias name to a numbered property (existing properties only).

Street renaming and property renumbering You can apply to rename a street, change property numbering, and also view any current renaming orders.
