Voter engagement
Understanding these polls
We have been working with our colleagues across Essex and are running local media campaigns to keep voters informed about the upcoming polls and what they need to do.
All of our polling station staff will be wearing ID badges to help put voters at ease and have been trained in how to impartially explain the voting process and support voters.
You cannot use our resources as part of your campaign, but we would appreciate your support in helping residents understand these elections so that they can cast their votes with confidence. You can share resources like the Electoral Commission video below.
Help and advice for electors
We have set up some reminder emails and text messages to be sent to residents directly in the lead up to the polls to remind them about polling day, to check their polling station etc.
General updates for voters about these elections will be published on our webpage, Twitter, Facebook and other social media accounts.
Our communications campaign will help people understand the role of Essex County Council, remind them of key deadlines and how to cast their vote.
Targeted communications
We will be running a targeted communications plan for areas where something is different. For example:
- Advertisements to residents in Broomfield and The Walthams to make them aware of the by-election
- Advertisements to residents in Danbury and The Hanningfields to make them aware of their new county division
