Visitor Host, Rachel, dressed as a Land Girl stood outside Chelmsford Museum with her foot on a spade.

For this year’s International Women’s Day, join visitor host Rachel as our museum Land Girl who will be presenting this talk and tour celebrating the role of women in the war effort in Chelmsford.

This 15-20 minute session will follow the work of two inspirational women in Chelmsford’s history - Dorothy Capon, who worked in the Women Land Army in Chelmsford, and Florence Attridge, who headed the top secret coil workshop at Marconi that was instrumental in gathering intelligence for the military.

Meeting in the Victorian Hall at Chelmsford Museum, you will be told more about these women in the Victorian and 20th Century galleries on the ground and first floors. Spaces are limited for this talk, so we advise booking early.
