A collage of intertwined arms and hands with poetry.
“The ideal of care is thus an activity of relationship, of seeing and responding to need, taking care of the world by sustaining the web of connection so that no one is left alone” - Carol Gilligan, Developmental Psychologist.

Raised and twisted arms work their way across the printed page in 'The Caregiver as a Contortionist', a riso print. As the Carer is constrained, contained, distorted and contorted in her practical care work.

The print collage 'Don't lose yourself looking after others', exposes how Carers also need self-care.

The Carer/Contortionist can only do care work if she herself is well, and must juggle domestic, caring and creative working. 'The Caregiver as a Contortionist' zine explores how this juggling might be possible.
