Climate Change and the Historic Environment: Essex and Beyond by Dr. Peter Murphy

Please note: this talk takes place at the Chelmsford Theatre Studio on Fairfield Road.

Dr. Murphy worked for English Heritage for much of his career, first as an Archaeological Scientist and later as Coastal Change Officer, then Climate Change Officer. His principal project in Essex was the Hullbridge Survey, a complete survey of the Essex coast, recording sites from the Mesolithic to Post-Medieval period and focusing on one exceptionally well-preserved Neolithic settlement site, known as The Stumble, near Osea Island. It acted as a precursor for English Heritage’s national programme of Rapid Coastal Zone Assessment Surveys.
