Chelmsford City Council

We are part of the Essex Community Shield, which brings volunteers together with the people most in need of help due to coronavirus. You can find out how to get help, or how to volunteer. You can also view our latest coronavirus updates.

Mobile Customer Information Service visits

We visit 19 rural communities in the Chelmsford area, so that you can access our services at your local village hall, shop or Post Office. You can view a map of our locations.

At the Mobile Customer Information Service (MCIS), you can:

  • find out how to get help with benefits and Council Tax

  • report environmental problems

  • get free replacement recycling sacks

  • discuss local issues

We have decided to suspend our Mobile Customer Information Service visits from Wednesday 18 March, until further notice. This is to keep our communities safe considering the current national situation. Our main offices, phone lines and website-based services remain open and there are no changes to any essential Council services. To stay updated, you can visit or sign up for news at
