We will be holding elections to the European Parliament on Thursday 23 May 2019, unless the UK leaves the European Union before then.
Standing in this election
If you want to stand for election, you need to submit nomination papers by 4pm on Thursday 25 April 2019.
You can find out how to apply for nomination papers.
Once you have filled them in, you can submit the papers at our Civic Centre offices during our opening times.
Voting in this election
The deadlines for this election are:
- 12 midnight on Tuesday 7 May 2019 to register to vote
- 5pm on Wednesday 8 May 2019 to apply for a postal vote to your local council
- 5pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019 to apply for a proxy vote to your local council
If you need an emergency proxy vote due to physical incapacity or work, the deadline to apply is 5pm on Thursday 23 May 2019.
You must have become incapacitated or aware of the work reason after 5pm on Wednesday 15 May 2019.

We are the returning officer for the whole of the eastern region. There are seven seats available in this region.
You must apply to your local council if you want a postal or proxy vote.
