‘Strictly Murder’ comes to Civic Theatre, Chelmsford

‘Strictly Murder’, the acclaimed thriller by Brian Clemens, is coming to Chelmsford’s Civic Theatre on Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 May at 7.45pm.

Set in Provence, France in April 1939, where Peter and Suzy – an English couple, are living in idyllic isolation from the world and oblivious to the oncoming world war. Their tranquility is suddenly shattered when a stranger from Peter’s past arrives and unearths secrets from a buried and hidden life which throws Suzy’s world into turmoil.

The fast-paced thriller is filled with stars from television. Brian Capron who played the ultimate Coronation Street baddie, Richard Hillman, as well as many other TV roles including Mr Hopwood in Grange Hill and being a contestant in Strictly Come Dancing and Celebrity MasterChef. Corrinne Wicks, who plays Suzy, is best known for her performances of Dr Helen Thompson in Doctors and Ella Hart in Emmerdale, whilst Gary Turner, who stars as Peter, was chef Carlos Diaz in Emmerdale as well as starring in Hollyoaks.

Strictly Murder is playwright’s Brian Clemens rollercoaster of bluff and double bluff, skills Clemens honed whilst writing and producing Hammer horror films. He is also famed for being the main scriptwriter for The Avengers TV series and writing 80s detective series, Bergerac. ‘Strictly Murder’ has been hailed as ‘one of the best mysteries I’ve seen’ by The Stage.
