In the event of inclement weather or other issue which affects access to the Civic Centre or other work location, we will update this page with important information for staff.
Adverse weather guidance
Directors and service managers have the authority to authorise the earlier departure of employees where members of staff anticipate that it will be difficult for them to get home.
In accordance with the flexi scheme policy, where staff need to leave early as a result of the weather conditions and this is authorised by their Service Manager or Director their flexi clocks should be credited with their standard working day.
Full day absences due to emergencies or inclement weather should be taken as annual/flexi leave.
The poor weather conditions are likely to continue this week. Those employees who cannot get to work on time or at all are expected to contact their line manager to advise them of the situation within one hour of the start of their regular workday. If phone lines are tied up, employees should keep trying or leave a voicemail message.
Except in the most severe cases, all employees are expected to report to work.
Where employees are unable to attend work safely Managers can agree for them to work from home, if this is operationally possible. However it is important that wherever possible normal operations be maintained.
