Improving Movement Around the City (iMAC)

We have set up a working group of members and officers from Chelmsford City Council and Essex County Council, called Improving Movement Around the City (iMAC).

The working group meets monthly to review proposals to improve movement around the city. The aim is to reduce congestion and journey times, encourage more sustainable travel choices and help improve air quality.

iMAC feed back on its progress to the Chelmsford Policy Board (CPB), which meets regularly. iMAC reported back at the following meetings:

  • 5 November 2020, which includes a report under item 6 giving a progress update
  • 15 March 2021, which contains a progress report on all of the council working groups at item 7

Currently, iMAC is developing a Sustainable Transport and Parking Strategy. To inform this strategy, iMAC held a virtual workshop in October 2020, involving over 20 stakeholders from a wide range of organisations. We also sent out a survey to over 30 stakeholders.

The workshop and survey helped to gather views on what we can do to encourage walking, cycling and public transport use. It also asked about improving parking arrangements in Chelmsford.

You can view a Feedback Report from that consultation.
