Doctor Who opened a new chapter in its long history last weekend and Chelmsford Picture House will be celebrating the much-loved Doctor and his greatest enemy, the Daleks, with a chance to win a remote-controlled Dalek!
Anyone who buys a ticket for the screening of 'Doctor Who and the Daleks' (U), which will be screened during the half-term school holiday at 2.30pm on Thursday 25 October, will have the chance to win - but you must come along dressed as your favourite Doctor Who character!
Ian Knowles, Manager of Chelmsford Picture House, explains, "I am a massive fan of Doctor Who, so don't start me on who is my favourite Time Lord, but one thing I can safely state is that the Daleks have been the Doctor's most fearsome enemy and the fans love them.
"Because I'm such a fan of the Doctor, I want to see the whole cinema filled with Doctors, favourite companions, Cybermen, Davroses, and I would love to see a walking sonic screwdriver in the audience too! To make this happen I'll be tempting people to dress up by offering a very special item from my own collection, a collector's remote-control model Dalek, still in its box."
Doctor Who and the Daleks (U) was originally released in 1965 and was the first celluloid outing for the Doctor, played by the classic British actor Peter Cushing. The film was shot in glorious Technicolour, widescreen format, so the Daleks are bigger, brighter and much scarier than anyone had seen on the small screen! Inventive British science fiction like this is rarely screened in cinemas these days - not to be missed, it's a great excuse to dress up.
