Success of Cinderella on Ice at Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre

Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre’s panto, ‘Cinderella On Ice’, performed by members of the Riverside Ice Skating Club, broke box office records with all eight of the performances selling out. The show ran from Wednesday 11 April to Sunday 15 April at Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, Chelmsford.

This incredible production featured the talented skaters of the Riverside Ice Skating Club, with Chloe Fowler as Cinderella, Lewis Kennedy as Prince Charming and Darcey Neil as the Fairy Godmother. Apart from the talents of the club, the production also featured colourful costumes, catchy songs and superb skating skills.

The production was the first time that Chloe Fowler (21) and Katie Barfield-Sturt (23) had directed and choreographed a production, after several years skating in the shows. Each panto production takes almost a year to plan, whilst some of the performers also represent Great Britain in international competitions, whilst rehearsing for the show.

Chloe and Katie are both skating instructors at Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, after coming through the ranks at the Riverside Ice Skating Cub.

The show was the last to be staged in the rink’s current configuration, with the rink set to be refurbished as part of Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre’s redevelopment, and the last show for the club’s Chairman, Don McNab, who is retiring after 25 years in the role. Andrew Lapsky has now taken over as the club’s Chairman.
