Chelmsford City Council regretfully announces that, in the light of the ongoing pandemic, this year’s Ice Show is cancelled and will return in April 2021.
This year’s production, Beauty and the Beast, was originally billed for April this year and was rescheduled to late August in the early days of the national lockdown. It has now been moved to Wednesday 31 March to Sunday 4 April 2021.
A collaboration between Riverside Leisure Centre and the Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club, the shows create a magical atmosphere for all ages. Beauty and the Beast transforms the rink into a sparkling fairy-tale world and follows a tale of love and bravery, inspired by the Disney classic, with colourful costumes and roof-raising songs.
Councillor Rose Moore, Cabinet Member for Greener and Safer Chelmsford, said, “The Ice Show is such a well-loved fixture on Chelmsford’s calendar. I am sad to announce that this year’s show must now be cancelled, but it is the right thing to do in order to keep our customers, performers, staff and community safe. We are planning to go all-out next year and can’t wait to see you all on the rinkside, cheering and singing along as we find out whether Belle and the Beast will triumph over adversity.”
Andrew Lapsky, Chairman of Chelmsford Riverside Ice Skating Club, said, “These are difficult times and the safety of our members and the many adults who help backstage is paramount, so we fully understand this decision. It’s been hard on our young cast and crew, who were only five weeks away from show week when the lockdown started, but our members can’t wait to get back training on the ice as soon as it’s safe to do so and we look forward to delivering Beauty and the Beast at Easter next year.”
All tickets will be automatically transferred to the April show, so if you would like to keep your seats, you don’t need to do anything. However, any ticket holders who would like a refund instead simply need to email email@example.com with their name and booking reference number before 1 July. All refunds will be processed within 28 days of the request.
