Latest speaker confirmed for Chelmsford’s City Showcase for Business event

Chelmsford City Council has today announced the latest confirmed guest speaker for its ninth annual Showcase for Business event being held tomorrow (Wednesday 15 November) is Ross Fretten. Ross, from Chelmsford, is best known for being one of 18 candidates to appear on BBC One’s ‘The Apprentice’ with Lord Alan Sugar.

Ross, Managing Director of the dog training app Kibble, will host a discussion titled ‘Is technology ruining your business?’ During the talk Ross will share his learning and experience working with some of the biggest brands in the world at OgilvyOne as well as some of London’s smallest start-ups. He will also share proven methodologies that every business needs to use in order for their customers to love their product. This discussion will start at 12pm, followed by a Q&A session.

In planning for the event, Ross commented “I’m really excited to meet like-minded entrepreneurs as well as experienced minds at this year’s Chelmsford Showcase for Business event. I believe opportunities will increasingly present themselves to surrounding areas such as Chelmsford over the next 5-10 years. I’m excited to be presenting about technology-first versus customer first-businesses, why the former nearly always fail and how you can ensure your business is the latter."

The Showcase will begin at 9am with a business briefing from Councillor Roy Whitehead, Leader of Chelmsford City Council and David Rayner, Chair of the Chelmsford Business Board, before it is officially opened by the Mayor of Chelmsford, Councillor Duncan Lumley, at 10am. The Grand Pavilion, within the grounds of the impressive Hylands Estate, will once again host the main exhibition, with over 50 trade stands demonstrating what they can offer your business.

The Council is also delighted to announce that Mark Cullen, Director of Brand and Marketing at EY will give a masterclass on The Power of Brand at 10.30am on the day. His CV is impressive: Mark worked at advertising agency Publicis, where he helped run their digital business with companies including Fiat and Mars, before joining Norwich Union to assist in their rebrand to Aviva.

Not only this, Brad Solomon, Founder and MD of The CTG Group, will deliver a masterclass on Enabling our Teams for the Future. This practical session will offer new perspectives on coaching leadership behaviours that can be practiced every day to enable, challenge, inspire, and encourage individuals and teams, onsite or virtual.

This is an essential event for businesses located in Chelmsford and the wider Essex region, where delegates can attend for free to network, participate in workshops and masterclasses, as well as benefit from funding advice and business support from the BEST Growth Hub.
