Visit Chelmsford Museum at the 3Foot People Festival

Chelmsford Museum will be creating a pop-up museum experience at this year's 3Foot People Festival at Hylands Park, Chelmsford, from 26 to 28 June, 9.30am-4pm.

Chelmsford Museum will be telling stories, reciting rhymes and singing songs all focused on the museum's fascinating historical objects. The fun, interactive workshops are based on the ever-popular 'Friday Fives' pre-school sessions that run at the museum during term times, The sessions will feature 'Here we go round the mulberry bush' and 'Two little dickey birds,' with one running in the morning session and one in the afternoon session.

Chelmsford Museum's pop-up experience will also offer fun and interesting artefacts from the museum's collection, as well as archaeological mini-digs for 'dinosaur bones', replica Victorian toys to play with and an art activity.

Dave Finkle, Manager of Chelmsford Museum, explains, "The museum has a lot of offer preschoolers in the city and we're looking forward to meeting our younger residents and inspiring an interest in history and their local heritage."

The 3Foot People Festival is the largest outdoor festival exclusively for pre-school children and is set to welcome over 14,000 visitors to the beautiful surroundings of Hylands Park. Children, parents and carers are expected to be overwhelmed with wonder as they experience this unique boutique festival.

As well as the pop-up museum experience, there are also the festival favourites, such as:

Sports Zone
Bringing an abundance of 'have-a-go' sessions for the little ones to develop their balance and co-ordination skills, including: athletics, basketball, cycling, football, gymnastics, hockey, martial arts, mini-trampolines and tennis.

Play, Make & Do
An area promoting the development of creativity through interactive involvement. Expect endless crafting, including wand-making, sensory and messy play, the return of boxes in 'Cardboard Kingdom', a soft play tent and plenty more.

Theatre & Storytelling
Performance designed to entertain while letting the imagination of mini-festivalgoers run wild - whether this is an intimate storytime session within a secluded tented village, or one of the spectacular shows in our Big Tops.
Several performances will be accompanied by BSL interpretation daily.

Music & Movement
This zone encourages children to move, dance and shake. With activities ranging from a kiddies' disco tent and multi-sensory sessions through to developmental musical and speech sessions and even relaxing activities, including baby massage.

Animal Zone
Allowing you to get up close with some familiar animals. See farm favourites at the mini-petting farm like chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep and giant bunnies. For something a little more tropical, check out the mini exotic zoo - including animals such as parrots, snakes, bearded dragons and parakeets.

Interactive Areas
3Foot loves an interactive area and returning this year is the popular 'Horse World', a playground of rocking horses and more to be explored and enjoyed while providing the much-loved chillout zone for adults. The bouncy castles are back too, with an exciting inflatable helter-skelter for 2018 - plus everybody's favourite, the face-painting tent. This year will also see the brand-new Joskin's Fayre, an all-new interactive carnival.
