If you are looking for childcare or something fun for your children to do over the Autumn half-term holiday, don’t worry, help is at hand! Chelmsford City Council’s series of Get In! City Camps, Skills Clinics and Active Fun sessions will ensure there’s never a dull moment.
Get In! City Camps are ideal for children aged between 4 and 12 years of age, and offer a huge range of supervised activities at a choice of four locations in and around the city: Riverside Ice and Leisure Centre, Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, Dovedale Sports Centre and South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre. Between the hours of 9am and 5pm, parents can leave their children in the care of friendly, qualified staff and coaches for a jam-packed half or full day of indoor and outdoor activities from 23 – 27 October.
Activities are dependent upon venue but include swimming, ice skating, cooking, dance, circus skills, rock school, inflatable play, go karting, orienteering, kayaking and horse riding to name but a few. Children will have the opportunity to make new friends and have fun and there’s also an option for children to arrive early or be picked up late. For sports-mad kids aged over 3, Chelmsford City Council is offering Skills Clinics for youngsters to improve their sporting ability in a number of areas, such as athletics, swimming, ice-skating and diving. Courses range from two hours to five days, are priced from £13.50 and take place at Riverside Ice and Leisure, South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre and Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre. Chelmsford City Council will also be offering a wide range of Get In! Active Fun activities at Riverside, South Woodham Ferrers and Chelmsford Sport and Athletics Centre, including: Brickz4Kidz lego sessions, the Detective Project, Spy School, canoeing, mini jet ski, Tots Tramp & Bounce sessions, Little Mix workshop and a Halloween party for kids aged 1-16. A Scrapbook safari will take place at Hylands House on Thursday 26 October for primary school aged children. The safari includes a guided exploration of Hylands Park and then a craft based session. The activity will run at 12pm priced £5 per child. Tickets can be booked by phoning 01245 605523.
Chelmsford Museums will be hosting a ‘Messy Crafters’ day on Tuesday 24 October and a ‘Creative Crafters’ day on Thursday 26 October. Messy Crafters is aimed at pre-school children aged between 18 months and five years old, these popular sessions will look at autumn and children will create a hand print tree, a hedgehog and a glowing witches broomstick. Creative Crafters is aimed at children aged between four and 12 years. Children will create a brilliant stained glass themed lantern to take home and treasure.
