Ignite Chelmsford: A Cultural Forum

Calling museum curators, fashion designers, artists, theatre managers, performers, event organisers and more. Ignite Chelmsford is launching: a new cultural forum for those working and volunteering within Chelmsford’s cultural, creative and heritage industries.

A lack of time means there can be insufficient discussion, understanding and appreciation of one another’s work, and a shortage of new collaboration opportunities. Ignite Chelmsford is a creative community comprising of an online network, a monthly meetup, a representative elected panel and programme of support, with the aim of bridging these gaps.

The forum will launch at 7.30pm on Wednesday 9 May with its first monthly meetup, hosted at the Cramphorn Studio. Come along for an evening of socialising, networking and discussion with a healthy balance of inspiring presentations and calls for support from local and national projects. Designed to be open, relaxed, informative and friendly with ample opportunity for informal chatter, Q&A’s and drinks at the bar.

Darryl Webber, local Journalist and blogger, said "Ignite is a fantastic development for Chelmsford as it brings together the city’s creative movers and shakers and gives them a collective voice they don’t have individually. It’s a brilliant opportunity to meet, share ideas and make interesting things happen in Chelmsford. There’s no lack of creative people in the city, but this is a chance for them to take things to another level and to put Chelmsford on the map culturally, both nationally and internationally."

Tony Morrison, Director, Essex Music Development Agency, said "At last, a forward-thinking Council that is supporting creativity. Ignite Chelmsford could well be the model that other councils look up to and I’m excited to be a part of such a diverse melting pot of organisations and people from such a wide range of backgrounds, but all with a common goal: to make the city an interesting place to live. I fully support this initiative and for those of you who part of it yet – well, jump on-board the creative train, as Chelmsford is going places!"
