Get snapping for this year's Photography Competition

Once again, this summer Chelmsford City Council is celebrating our city with the fifth annual City Photography Competition.

We are looking for photographs taken in Chelmsford by novice and amateur photographers. By entering you could be in with the chance of snapping up some great prizes and more details on this will be announced soon.

Photographers of any age and skill can enter their photos into one of the following categories:

-Creative Chelmsford

-Natural Chelmsford

-Urban Chelmsford

-Chelmsford in Portrait (new for 2019’s competition!)

A panel of judges will select an overall winner as well as a winning photograph in each category. There will also be an additional winner chosen who is under the age of 16. Under 16s can compete in all categories and photos will be judged under the ‘Best of Under 16s’ category.

Those who snapped the top five photos in each category will be invited to an awards evening in October this year. The winning images will also be exhibited at the Meadows Shopping Centre, for thousands of shoppers to admire.

For this year’s competition, the council is thrilled to announce that we will be working in partnership with the Essex Chronicle and Visit Chelmsford.

The competition opens on Saturday 1 June and closes at midnight on Thursday 31 August.

So, get snapping and enter your images at (site will be live from 1 June.)
