Essex 2020 is a county wide, year-long celebration of creativity, featuring science, engineering, the arts, cultural events, festivals and community projects and will conclude at the British Science Festival, which excitingly for the first time, comes to Essex at Anglia Ruskin University in 2020.

Ignite Chelmsford Cultural Partnership are looking for arts, cultural, heritage, community groups and businesses to share any plans or ideas they may have for 2020.

The objective of Essex 2020 is to gather and expand existing projects and initiatives under one umbrella, using the opportunity provided by the British Science Festival coming to Essex.  We want Essex 2020 to spark curiosity, showcase innovation and create new ways to engage people and communities, especially to find and nurture youthful talent.

To bring your projects and ideas to life, Ignite Chelmsford are offering you a chance to apply for grant funding of up to £5,000. Projects may include outdoor street performances, citizen science projects, exhibitions artworks, musical or theatre productions – we want to hear your creative ideas!

Marc De’ath, Culture, Museums & Theatre Manager at Chelmsford City Council explains: “Opportunities like the British Science Festival coming to your city don’t come around very often. Essex 2020 provides an excellent opportunity for Chelmsford to shine as the capital of Essex and celebrate our rich past and future heritage in science and innovation, in both new and creative ways.”

To express your interest and to share your ideas please visit www.essexfuture.org.uk/essex-2020/get-involved/submit-an-idea/ and fill out the online form. Please note, we still want to hear your ideas for projects even if you are not looking to apply for a grant. Those applying for funding will need to demonstrate how their project will benefit Chelmsford’s residents and/or businesses.
