Council seeks Chelmsford’s Champions

Chelmsford City Council is now accepting award nominations for people who go the extra mile to look after their local environment for this year’s Chelmsford Champions Awards.

The Chelmsford Champions awards have been running annually since 2016 and were developed to recognise and thank the extraordinary individuals that make Chelmsford a wonderful place to live.

Open to anyone who lives in Chelmsford and the surrounding borough, the awards invite nominations for those who have demonstrated commitment to making a positive difference to their neighbourhood. This could be anything from litter picking and planting flowers to doing something creative or leading others to get stuck into improving their local area.

Prizes will be presented to the selected Champions at a special ceremony in June at the spectacular Hylands House. This year’s event is sponsored by One Chelmsford (Chelmsford's Business Improvement District), who will also be joining us at the event to help congratulate the nominees and winners.

The awards are part of Love Your Chelmsford, a programme that celebrates the local environment and provides opportunities for residents to get involved, including river clean-ups, volunteering, fun events and competitions.

Councillor Malcolm Sismey, Cabinet Member responsible for Love Your Chelmsford said: “We know that there are wonderful people who help their local environment and community tremendously in Chelmsford. These awards are a way of thanking those residents and show that we really do appreciate their hard work and efforts. Love Your Chelmsford look forward to reading the entries and I encourage as many nominations as possible.”

The closing date for nominations is Friday 10 May. To nominate a Community Champion, please email the Love Your Chelmsford team at lyc@chelmsford.gov.uk, call 01245 615800 or message @LoveYourChelmsford on Facebook.
