Comedy announcement for Fling Festival 2017

Chelmsford City Council is delighted to announce Seann Walsh will be headlining this year’s all new Comedy Big Top stage.

The Fling Festival, a unique summer festival for adults only, returns to the glorious surroundings of Hylands Park, Essex, on Saturday 1 July, from 12pm – 11pm.

The Fling offers a large yet intimate village of music, surreal theatre, and fantastical storytelling amongst a banquet of unique performances of comedy, poetry, dance, cabaret, side-shows and other curiosities.

Charming, charismatic and a natural motor mouth, Seann Walsh is the most frighteningly precocious talent to emerge from the UK comedy circuit in years. With his keen observational mind, Seann can spot the absurdity in everything and convert it to perfectly delivered stand-up comedy.

He is regularly seen on TV as Team captain of Channel 4’s Virtually Famous. His other TV appearances include: ITV’s Jonathan Ross Show, Tonight at The London Palladium, Celebrity Juice, 8 Out Of 10 Cats and Alan Carr: Chatty Man, plus Comedy Central’s Russell Howards Stand Up Central.

‘Unquestionably the best observational comic of his generation’ – The Guardian

‘Walsh is this generation’s Dylan Moran’ - Time Out

Making up the rest of this year’s fantastic comedy line-up we are delighted to be featuring a mix of established and rising stars of the UK comedy circuit. Acts include the award winning Andrew Maxwell, who is not only renowned for his cutting edge comedy and intrepid social commentary, but also as the recognisable voice of MTV’s hit show Ex On The Beach. He is regularly seen on TV shows; Live At The Apollo, Have I Got News For You, Celebrity Juice and Mock The Week.

We also have Glenn Wool, who is a regular addition to many festivals including Glastonbury, Latitude, Bestival and Download. He has also featured on TV shows Never Mind The Buzzcocks, The BBC Stand Up Show and Beyond for Comedy Central.

Also performing is Suzi Ruffell who is regarded as one of the best up-and-coming acts on the circuit. Her hit Edinburgh 2016 show ‘Common’ received four and five star reviews across the board which led to supporting the likes of Alan Carr, Josh Widdicombe and Kevin Bridges on tour.

Completing the line-up is the award winning Kevin McCarthy, and the master of one-liners and strange thoughts Jake Lambert.

Tier Three Tickets for the Fling Festival are available from £25 via the Festival Box Office on 01245 606 505 or via www.FlingFestival.com For up-to-date festival info, visit www.FlingFestival.com, like ‘Fling Festival’ on Facebook and follow @FlingFestival on Twitter.

The Fling Festival is produced by Chelmsford City Council’s Marketing, Events & Engagement Team with support from Essex & Suffolk Water.
