Chelmsford City Council is advising shoppers on the best places to park to save money and beat the Christmas crowds this Christmas.
We all know that as soon as December comes around, more people will be visiting the City centre to shop for Christmas, meaning that traffic around the City centre can be more congested as usual.
With the main City centre multi-storey and surface car parks such as High Chelmer, Meadows Retail and John Lewis’ Bond Street being popular car parks amongst visitors for their convenient locations, why not try alternative car parks in the City centre?
For excellent value weekend parking, Townfield Street (next to the railway station) is perfect for shopping, offering unique restaurants and boutiques and is only a couple of minutes’ walk from the High Street. Townfield Street is only £1.50 per day on weekends.
In addition, Fairfield Road car park (located next to Chelmsford Theatres) is a short 10-minute walk from the High Street and High Chelmer Shopping centre and is priced at £2 a day over the weekend.
There is also the ‘Park and Ride’ service based in both Sandon and Chelmer Valley. You can park your car and catch frequent buses to the City centre, with weekday adult daily tickets costing £3.60 and £1.50 on Saturdays. The Sandon site will also be running a frequent Sunday service on the 9, 16 and 23 December.
