Chelmsford City Council

Carols and mince pies with the Mayor this Christmas

The Mayor of Chelmsford is inviting local residents to join her at the city's first ever Civic Carol Service.

The Service will be held in the Cathedral at 6.45pm on 14 December and will feature the Salvation Army Band, the Chelmsford Singers, the Writtle Singers and Margaretting School. There will be star contributions from West End singer Ruthie Henshall and Jess Folley, previous winner of The Voice - Kids' Version.

Mayor Yvonne Spence says: "I know Christmas is busy for us all, but carols are a great way of bringing together people from every different background. I'm looking forward to a really festive service that celebrates the good things in life, and I'm hugely grateful to all those who are contributing to make it special."

The service is expected to last approximately 75 minutes; mulled wine and mince pies will be served afterwards. Admission is free and on the way out there will be a collection in aid of the Mayor's Charities - Kids Inspire and the Dementia Project at Broomfield Hospital.
