Everyone remembers the heyday of the V Festival. James Wilkinson, artist in residence at Hylands Estate was at the heart of it all. Since 2012 he was the official artist for the V Festival, and this exhibition concentrates on some of the on- and off-stage sketches, portraits, photographs and videos from the festivals.

You'll see the familiar faces of Sam Smith and Noel Gallagher as you reminisce about great festivals of the past! You will also be able to watch video interviews with some of the stars.

Primarily a portrait painter, inspired by the classics of Carravagio and the Pop Art of Peter Blake amongst others, James was compelled to create portraits since the age of 7.

James' art tries to incorporate a piece of his subject and over the past 35 years he have been lucky enough to meet and paint some of the biggest stars in the music world and have them collaborate with him.  Those portraits of past heroes contain personal items or memorabilia from their lives.

We are thrilled to be able to showcase James' work. Entry to the exhibition is free.
