Art lovers could stumble upon the next Grayson Perry or Billie Bond as talented and well respected local artists work goes on display at Chelmsford Museum, as part of the Chelmsford Art Society’s Winter Exhibition.
Chelmsford Museum will be opening its doors for visitors to discover and buy original art by the city’s most-talented local artists from Saturday 9 December to Sunday 14 January.
The Chelmsford Art Society was established over 50 years ago and currently has over 100 members. The Society will be showcasing 100 works of art that utilise acrylics, water colours, pastels, screen printing and oils, by both professional artists and skilled amateurs. The society’s members include; Les Williams, Paul Franks, Susan Clare and Matthew Brazier, who together have had their work exhibited at The Mall Galleries in London, The Barbican Centre, The Forum in Norwich, the Society of Woman Artists, the Royal Society of Marine Artists and the Society of Graphic Fine Art.
The displayed art work will be for sale and the exhibition is a fantastic opportunity to buy original pieces of art for affordable prices. Assistant Museum Manager: Curatorial and Learning Dr Mark Curteis, said: “We are excited about the exhibition, we know Chelmsford has a lot of artistic talent out there and the gallery walls are a wonderful space for their work to be presented. This exhibition is a terrific way for local artists to have their artwork displayed and for Chelmsford to recognise their talent. We are really looking forward to seeing a wide variety of art from the city’s creative community.”
