Photo competition

Orange light trails in the darkness

The City Photo Competition 2019 overall winner was Filming Light Trails by James Di Cicco. We displayed the shortlisted and winning photos at a special exhibition at the Meadows Shopping Centre in October.

You can also view an online gallery of the category winners.

The judging panel included photographer John Byer and representatives from Essex Chronicle, Meadows Shopping Centre, Blue Sky Printing, Camera World and One Chelmsford. Councillor Marie Goldman and Councillor Bob Massey, the Mayor of Chelmsford, also joined the panel.

We received over 300 entries for the 2019 competition, more than ever before. The judges whittled down the photographs to 25. They then invited the people behind the lens to a special awards evening at Meadows Shopping Centre on Monday 7 October, attended by the Mayor.

Prizes for the individual winners included:

  • Civic Theatre tickets
  • tickets for this year’s Hylands Estate Pantomime
  • a three-month Riverside Leisure Centre membership
  • a Going Digital voucher worth £100
  • a Camera World voucher worth £250
  • an ice disco voucher for Riverside Leisure Centre

The overall winner in each category received a Blue Sky printing consultation for a professional print of their choice.

We would like to thank everyone who submitted their entry into the competition. We would also like to thank this year’s partners and sponsors: Essex Chronicle, One Chelmsford, Meadows Shopping Centre and Blue Sky Printing.
