Discovery Festival

Running in celebration of the International Day for People with Disabilities on 3 December, our Discovery Festival returns.

This year will see a programme of events running from Saturday 2 until Friday 8 December, in various locations across the city.

These events will:

  • celebrate the achievements of those living with disability
  • showcase the fantastic support, advice and inclusive activities available in and around Chelmsford
  • provide education around disability, breaking down barriers working to an inclusive Chelmsford

  

Discovery Festival: Discovery Days

Chelmsford Museum at Oaklands Park will host this year’s Discovery Days on Tuesday 5 and Wednesday 6 December between 10am and 5pm.

Local charities and organisations will run pop up Discovery Stands within the Museum. These stands will encourage visitors to discover and understand disability through a variety of interactive and immersive elements and activities.

Some of the organisations who will be taking part in the Discovery Days include:

  • Action for Children
  • Autism Hub
  • Central Essex Mind
  • City of Chelmsford Mencap
  • Disability Confident
  • Hearing Help Essex
  • ICE
  • Interact

We will announce the full stand line up in early November.

  

Discovery Festival: My Ability Gallery

Chelmsford Museum will also host the My Ability Gallery from Sunday 3 until Friday 8 December.

Working with local support organisations, the gallery will celebrate the achievements of those living with disability.

  

Discovery Festival: discovery workshops, sessions and activities

Throughout the week, local support groups, organisations, charities and activity groups will host a range of open sessions displaying their support and inclusive work.

We will publish a full programme in early November.
