Come to our gym at SWFLC (South Woodham Ferrers Leisure Centre) and use a range of equipment with the support of our friendly and qualified gym instructors.

What to expect when you visit

To keep staff and customers safe, there are some changes to how we operate:

Booking

You must book a gym session in advance on the website or via our app.
If you have not booked in advance, you will not be able to use the centre.
If you wish to cancel you must give us at least 2 hours notice. Find out more about cancellations.
Booking limits apply (terms and conditions).

Sessions in the gym

Sessions will be for one hour only.
You will be able to use a station for a maximum of 15 minutes.
We will restrict the number of people allowed in the gym at any time.
You cannot move equipment such as benches around the gym.
You will not be able to use the water stations, please bring enough water for your workout.
You will follow a one-way system around the gym.
Please listen to guidance and instructions from the gym team while you use the gym.
Please arrive promptly for your session. You will only be allowed entry up to 30 minutes after your session start time. After this you will not be able to join the session.
Social distancing should be observed at all times.

Face coverings

You will need to wear a face covering inside our leisure centres whenever you aren't exercising, unless you have an exemption. Find out more about face coverings.
We recommend that you do not wear a face covering during exercise. Please leave it with your possessions during your activity.

Showers and changing rooms

You will not be able to use the changing rooms, please come ready for your session.
Toilets will still be available.
You will not be able to use the lockers in the fitness room.

Cleaning

We will be cleaning in between sessions
We will provide hand sanitiser and there will be cleaning stations around the gym for you to use before and after you use equipment

When you arrive and leave

Before you arrive, you can download the NHS COVID-19 app. You can open the app and scan the QR code displayed at the entrance to the centre on arrival.
You should only arrive 15 minutes before your session time to avoid queuing congestion.
If you arrive early for your session, please remain in your car.
The entrance will be split in two, please go in on the right hand side.
Check-in at the checkpoint opposite reception.
Monthly members will also need to check in.
Follow the signs and one-way system around the centre to get to and from your activity.
You will exit the centre through the normal exit, staying to the right hand side.
You must leave the centre promptly once your session has finished.

Monthly Members

You will need to book a session in advance.
You will need to check in for your session at reception.
If you do not check-in, we will charge you the full amount for the session.
Please make sure that you have registered your email address with us in order to book online.

Things you need to know

Booking

If you are a monthly member, you can book up to 10 days in advance.
If you are an ourChelmsford Plus cardholder, you can book 7 days in advance.
If you are an ourChelmsford Lite cardholder, you can book 2 days in advance.

Cancellations

If you can't attend a session that you have booked onto, you must cancel at least two hours before it starts.
You can cancel online or via the app, or by phone.
We will charge you the full amount for the session if you do not cancel in time, or if you do not attend. This includes monthly members.

Inductions

You will need to have an induction before you use the gym. Book a gym induction by calling the centre on 01245 605600
Gym inductions are free for monthly members, or £22 for ourChelmsford Lite and Plus cardholders.
You will be required to complete a Par-Q medical questionnaire before you start using the gym.
During the induction you will discuss your goals, learn how to use the equipment safely and effectively, and get a personalised exercise programme.
If you have any questions while you are in the gym, our instructors will be available to answer them.
