Coronavirus

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we have had to make some changes to the way customers can use our centre. This is to keep all customers and staff safe.

Face coverings

Following government guidance, you will need to wear a face covering inside our leisure centres whenever you aren't exercising, unless you have an exemption. You can find out more about  face covering exemptions

Parking  

We offer four extra wide accessible parking bays at South Woodham. These are positioned in the car park adjacent to the centre.  

Access into the centre  

All entrances and exits are level flooring with a low sloped ramp for entrance and exit, as well as a wide glass barrier for wheelchair entrance and exit.  

We have put some changes in place to keep everyone safe during the Coronavirus pandemic. 

  • The entrance way will be split. Please keep to the right as you enter.
  • There will be a one-way system in place. Please follows the signs and directions from staff to get to and from your activity.

Movement around centre  

The centre has level floors all around the ground floor.  We have wide access and entry and exit routes throughout the centre.  

We have put some changes in place to keep everyone safe during the Coronavirus pandemic. 

  • The entrance way will be split. Please keep to the right as you enter.
  • There will be a one-way system in place. Please follows the signs and directions from staff to get to and from your activity.
  • Please go to reception to check in for your pool session.
  • Please go straight ahead to access gym, classes or sports hall sessions.
  • You must have booked a session to use the centre. If you have a carer, they can enter free of charge to assist you, however they must register at reception when arriving at the centre.
  • Please queue for the reception desk if you have a general enquiry. 
  • You can only exit the centre via the one way system. This is at ground level.

Visual impairments

  • The doors and signage are in contrasting colours to their surrounds to make them more easily identifiable. All signage has been designed with accessibility in mind.

 

Assistance animals

  • Assistance animals are welcome in centre to assist their owners.

Changing and toilets  

Wet change  

  • We have a Changing Places facility located in the swimming pool changing room, this facility contains two lockers. 

Dry change  

  • We would recommend using the pool facility for changing and then access all dry facilities from here. 

Toilets  

  • An accessible toilet will be available to use in the main foyer, in addition to the changing places facility.

Pool  

We have a pool hoist providing access to our pool. Please let our receptionist know when you arrive that you require a hoist to access the pool and we will ensure this is in place ready for your use.

When we reopen there will be some temporary changes to our sessions: 

  • You will need to pre-book all sessions in advance using an ourChelmsford card.
  • If you have a carer, they can enter free of charge to assist you, however they must register at reception when arriving at the centre.

Sessions

  • We will have a reduced timetable to begin with
  • Sessions will be timed
  • We will restrict the number of people allowed in the pool at any time
  • The pool will be open for lane swimming only. You must be able to swim lengths unaided to use the pool
  • You will not be able to spectate

Showers and changing rooms

  • We have a Changing Places facility located in the swimming pool changing room, this facility contains two lockers. 
  • Limited cubicle showers will be available 
  • You will not be able to use the hairdryers
  • An accessible toilet will also be available in the foyer.

Cleaning

  • We will be cleaning in between sessions
  • We will provide hand sanitiser and cleaning stations around the centre

When you arrive and leave

  • If you arrive early for your session, please remain in your car
  • The entrance will be split in two, please go in on the right hand side
  • Please go to reception to check in for your pre-booked session, then continue on to the pool changing rooms for your session, as directed
  • At the end of your swim session, you will return to the changing rooms and use one of the dedicated cubicles available or the Changing Places unit to change out of your swimwear. 
  • Limited cubicle showers will be available for use. Communal showers will not be available.
  • There will be cleaning stations in the changing room for customers to wipe down cubicles and lockers after they have used them.
  • To exit, you will follow the signs out of the changing rooms into the main foyer and through the exit
  • You will need to leave the centre straight after your session

Gym

Our gym is fully accessible to those with visual impairments, including those with assistance animals, and wheelchair users. 

When we reopen there will be some temporary changes to our sessions:

  • You will need to pre-book all sessions in advance using an ourChelmsford card.
  • Carers assisting customers in the gym can come in free of charge.  Please register as a carer at reception when you arrive. 

Sessions in the gym

  • Sessions will be for one hour only
  • You will be able to use a station for a maximum of 15 minutes
  • We will restrict the number of people allowed in the gym at any time
  • You cannot move equipment such as benches around the gym
  • Water stations will not be available; please bring a drink with you
  • You will follow a one-way system around the gym

Showers and changing rooms

  • We have a Changing Places facility at South Woodham Ferrers located in the swimming pool changing room, this facility contains two lockers. 
  • An accessible toilet will also be available in 
  • You will not be able to use the lockers in the fitness room

Cleaning

  • We will be cleaning in between sessions
  • We will provide hand sanitiser and there will be cleaning stations around the gym for you to use before and after you use equipment

When you arrive and leave

  • The entrance will be split in two, please go in on the right hand side
  • Check-in at the checkpoint opposite reception
  • Follow the signs and one-way system around the centre to get to and from your activity
  • You will exit the centre through the normal exit, staying to the right hand side

Monday to Friday, 6.15am to 9.30pm
Saturday and Sunday, 7am to 6.45pm
