View our vacancies

If you are looking for the first step in your career, an apprenticeship with us is a great place to start.

At the heart of the local community, we deliver a wide range of different services to the people of Chelmsford.

As one of our apprentices, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team delivering a service you’re interested in, including:

  • accounting
  • business admin
  • customer services
  • engineering
  • horticulture
  • ICT
  • Sports

We have recruited more than 30 apprentices in the past seven years, with most of those staying with us to build a permanent career.

Training

During your apprenticeship, you’ll work towards a recognised qualification and receive training at work or at college so that you can gain:

  • a technical certificate, such as a BTEC
  • an NVQ at Level 2 or Level 3

You’ll also be able to take part in Council-wide training and events, and work with experienced and helpful teams.

Our scheme

Our apprenticeships have fixed term contracts lasting between one and two years, and we recruit apprentices throughout the year.

If you become one of our apprentices, you will receive:

  • an hourly payment of between £3.40 and £7.20, depending on your age
  • the same benefits and discounts as our other employees

To read more about our apprentices and what they have done, you can download our brochure.
