Apprenticeships

Our apprenticeships give people the chance gain experience in the workplace, whilst learning and earning money at the same time.

You can view and apply for apprenticeships by looking at our current vacancies.

We offer apprenticeships in different areas, including:

  • accounting
  • business admin
  • customer services
  • engineering
  • horticulture
  • ICT
  • sports

Our apprenticeships have fixed term contracts lasting between one and two years, and we recruit apprentices throughout the year.

During your time with us, you’ll work towards a recognised qualification. You’ll receive training at work or at college so that you can gain:

  • a technical certificate, such as a BTEC
  • an NVQ at Level 2 or Level 3

You’ll also be able to take part in Council-wide training and events, and work with experienced and helpful staff.

If you become one of our apprentices, you will receive:

  • an hourly payment of between £3.40 and £7.20, depending on your age

  • the same benefits and discounts as other employees

To find out more about our apprenticeship scheme, you can download our brochure.

You can look at GOV.UK for more information about apprenticeships.
