How to book

You can book a pest control visit by phone on 01245 606606.

Cost

The fee for treating wasps and hornets is £72.

If you claim benefits, the fee is £36.

All prices are valid from 1 April 2024 to 31 March 2025.

Preparing for treatment

You do not need to prepare for treating this type of pest

Treatment

We use a telescopic pole to spray an insecticidal dust into the entry point of the wasp nest to kill the wasps.

Re-treatment

No, but if the first treatment is unsuccessful we would treat again for free. We will re-treat without charge if you notify us within three weeks of the original visit date that the nest is still active.

Wasps never go back to old nests, so if you find more wasps, they would be in a new nest.

Restrictions

As we use a telescopic pole to spray insecticidal dust, the wasp nest must:

  • be large enough for the dust to reach the nest
  • have a visible external entrance
  • be lower than the eaves gutter of a two storey house
  • not be obstructed by an extension, conservatory or other building

If we can't treat the nest or if the wasps are actually bees, we will charge you a call-out fee.

We will not treat if you are a landlord of a residential property. This would be a commercial property and you would need to contact a private pest control provider.

Treatment time

30 minutes.

Other information

We treat wasps, but do not treat bees. You need to check that you definitely have wasps and not bees before you book a treatment with us. You can look at Chelmsford Beekeepers for information about the difference between wasps and bees.

If we find that you have bees, we will not carry out a treatment and you will still need to pay our call-out fee.

If you have a swarm of bees in your garden, you can contact the Chelmsford Division of the Beekeepers Association for help.
