Discount for people with disabilities

You can apply for the Disabled Band Reduction Scheme if:

  • someone in your property is disabled

  • you have modified your property to meet their needs

You can apply for the Disabled Band Reduction Scheme if your property has:

  • enough space inside so that a wheelchair for day-to-day living can be used indoors
  • an additional bathroom or kitchen to meet the disabled person’s needs
  • a room other than a bathroom, toilet or kitchen which is required to meet the disabled person’s needs

We do not include people who have a severe mental impairment when we calculate Council Tax. If you live with someone who has a severe mental impairment, and you are the only other adult, you can apply for a discount.
