Wednesday Wonders - The Romans

Roman mansio at Caesaromagus
Plan of Caesaromagus
Roman soldiers with a horse

This summer we are celebrating Chelmsford's past with a series of history-themed workshops to complement our City Centred local history exhibition. Each week there are workshops with a different time theme, each with a costumed character to meet as well objects from our collection to handle and an art/craft activity. Something for all the family!

The Romans are coming!

The Romans invaded Britain in 43AD and formed a town in Moulsham called Caesaromagus.  Come along and meet our Roman lady who has arrived to visit a soldier relative who is stationed here.  What will she make of the place compared to home?

Objects to handle

We have a great collection of real Roman objects to handle.  Find out more about life in the Roman town.
